Carry one another’s burdens…

Paul’s teaches in Galations 6 that we should help people when they face overwhelming problems (as a demonstration of God’s Love) with the goal of helping them through a difficult time and then help them get on the path of self sufficiency / growing to help others and not to be dependent on us long term. Sometimes it’s a long messy process sometimes it’s not.

The Leal family is a great example of this… A few years ago I (Scott) stopped by the police station to pick up some of my homeless friends. I met Gloria Leal - she was there because she was just burned out of her house. It was a divine appointment - We prayed with her and helped their family in many ways. They lost most everything, we helped with coats and resources that helped them get through a difficult time as well as offer prayer and spiritual and emotional support. They were very grateful and helped with our Christmas Toy wrapping at Crete Church just a few weeks later. They have been so grateful for the help Christ Cares gave them during their time of crisis. Last year they bought shopping baskets full of Toys to donate to Christ Cares and to “give back”… Praise the Lord!
